# Process Mining in the browser: Petri net editor

> Process mining on marckimmel.de: model, simulate and export Petri nets directly in the browser. Event-log analysis in preparation. Free, no ads.

The editor lets you draw Petri nets, place tokens and fire transitions. Without sign-in the model stays in this browser, signed in it is stored in your account.

## What the editor does

- Draw Petri nets in the browser: places, transitions and arcs on a canvas.
- Place tokens and fire transitions, step by step in play mode.
- Import and export models as PNML, the exchange format for Petri nets.
- Work without signing in: the model then stays in this browser only.
- Signed in with a Google account, your models are stored in your account.

## The research behind it

The editor is backed by Marc Kimmel's research at the Professorship for Concurrent Systems of the University of Augsburg on process engineering, process mining and the understandability of process models. For empirical studies on the understandability of Petri nets the Petri-Dish tool was built there and presented at Petri Nets 2026. Event-log analysis (process discovery and conformance checking) is in preparation.
